Central Heating

With over 20 years experience Gas Man Den prides himself on his knowledge of central heating systems so you can rest assured the problem will be solved with the minimum amount of fuss.

Feeling the Cold!

It's a horrible feeling when in the depths of winter you turn on your central heating and find half an hour later your still cold! You check all your radiators and find they're all cold! So you put on a jumper and start to look for a plumber. Well with Gas Man Den you can be sure of receiving a quick response whether it's in the middle of the day, before you leave for work or in the evening when you get home followed a quick diagnosis of the problem and if an onsite repair is not possible then the quick sourcing of parts so that you can get those radiators nice and hot again.

Getting the Right Advise

One of the problems with Central Heating systems is getting them started up again after they have lain dormant all Summer. Quite often it's issues with the pump but there are also many other things to consider such as a faulty zone valves/mid position valve, maybe a room thermostat or programmer issue? But no matter what the problem is you can rest assured that Gas Man Den will be able to identify it quickly and give you the correct advise on how to deal with it and it doesn't always have to end up in the replacement of expensive parts either? Sometimes a small adjustment or starting things up in a different way can be all that's needed along with some good advise on how to keep things running smoothly in the future

Power Flush

Of course not all Central Heating issues can be sorted out there and then and sometimes not even the replacement of parts will do any good! This is when you might need a Power Flush on your central heating system. There are signs you can look out for in order to spot this such as radiators only getting hot in patches even after bleeding them or boiler overheating so that it needs to be reset but there are lot's of other factors to consider. Of course it isn't always a Power Flush that is needed although some of the more unscrupulous engineers out there may tell you it is and this is where Gas Man Den can give you some sound advise on whether it is a Power Flush you require and what steps need to be taken. After all you don't want to be paying for an expensive Power Flush when all you really need is your pump changing.

Power Flushing has become a big thing in recent years due to central heating systems having never been treated before. Sludge builds up in the radiators and pipework making it difficult to pump water through which is when cold patches start to appear or after not being switched on all summer the sludge hardens so that it jams valves or just makes it impossible for the pump to move the hot water through.

A Power Flush carried out correctly requires the use of a Power Flushing machine. This is a container with a big strong pump being connected up to your system and being used to pump a cleaning chemical around it. The machine has a reversable flow switch so the pump can be switched to pump in the opposite direction to help clear those really stubborn blockages and the dirty black and quite often filthy water is then collected in the pumping machine and then dumped into a drain so that fresh clean water can be added. When the flushing is complete an Inhibitor chemical is added to the system to help stop the build up of any sludge in the future and there are other parts such as magnetic filters which can be fitted to collect any future magnetite before it harms your boiler.
